Rich in folklore and mild in taste, the cod has created trade upon which cities and nations have been founded. Alaska cod - also known as true cod, gray cod, Pacific cod, or P-cod - is the perfect choice for a healthy diet because it is an excellent source of high-quality protein and essential nutrients.

The firm texture of the meat allows Alaska cod to adapt to most cooking methods, while being a perfect complement to most sauces, herbs, spices and coatings. The mild taste of cod’s lean, snow white fillets make it a versatile culinary mainstay. Alaska cod are generally smaller than their North Atlantic cousins, averaging 5-10 pounds per fish.

Unlike cod fisheries in other parts of the world, proper management of Alaska’s cod has resulted in a naturally abundant and sustainable resource, available nearly year ’round - and ensuring plenty of fish are available for the future.
